Star Trek Episode

In class we talked about different ways of communicating, and Dr.Harris shared her little situation about when she wentout of the U.S. where they didn't speak english and how it was hard for her and her friend to communicate and understand their native toungue. Her story was funny because she said how they needed house hold items from the hotel so they went 2 the front desk and "tryed"to get what they needed and long story short Dr.Harris's friend ended up getting louder/louder just because they werent understanding her. After she shared her story she wanted us to watch something that might help us better understand how communication is crucial/important, in life and in our classroom. So we watched an episode of Star Trek entitled "Darmok Episode" and it was basically over how one captain from one ship and one from another needed to communicate to get somthing done. I think if i were 2 go some where where the people do not understand me would be like if if i was in space talking 2 Captain Dathon about heels lol or something....idk how that would go i would laugh a lot at 1st then get frustrated then try and use everything i can to understand or connect what there saying or gesturing to understad how to communiucate with them.

Mixed feelings Blog.....

So our topic 2day for our blog is to talk about Cannabis (Marijuana) (ganja) there are many different type of names for it but thats not wut i have mixed feelings about. When i hear the word marijuana i think about yhe sound clip from one of TOOLS albums. It said youre against drugs and u look down apon the people that do them, but think of your favorite song and that artist was "REALLLLLL f****ing high on drugs" And i think this is true for the most part...when i think of marijuana i think Woodstock, i think California, i think those stupid commercials they show on T.V. bout "how it is when you smoke weed" there are many different people that do it....Lawers, Doctors..etc....Im nOT saying its ok. All im saying is IT'S NOT GONNA MATTER IF ITS LEGAL OR NOT PEOPLE ARE STILL GONNA DO IT jus like they are doing TODAY....i personally do not see what bad it is doing ....why is weed bad hu??? Bcuz the government says so? weed has been around for ages..it actually helps treat with alot of things such as Depression Huntington's Disease, Leukemia, Parkinson's Disease, and Sickle-Cell Disease. Personally i do not see what telling our kids NOT 2 do weed is going to help yes it will but there gonna do wut they want no matter wut. Just like drinking or having Sex...it all depends on the individuals values.

??????What is a Narrative??????

Hmmmmm....what is a narrative?
Anarrative is a type of writing that has a beg, mid, and end to it. One example of this would be a childrens book called "The Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister. It is a great book to teach children not to make fun of others or be too conceited. But it also has a mixed message bout conforming
so u might want 2 read this 2 urself b4 u read it 2 ur class. Never the less it fits Dr. Harris"s definition of a narrative it has details it has a setting, it has a plot and it has characters, and it has a hook which is NOT a sentence but the illustrations (glitter).
there is a narrative almost every where such as poems which can b personal. But do not get confused between a narrative, persuasive which is convincing someone to do something, descriptive which decribes something, and expressive which has excessive detail.

The Fluffy's Unknown Powers

Beginning:
1st sentence: Did you know clouds have powers?
2nd sentence: Have you ever heard of the Fluffy's?

Middle:
*The Fluffy's are a cloud family
*They have three children named Nimbostratus, Stratocumulus, and Stratus
*But they like to be called Nimbo, Strato, and Stratus for short.
*Nimbo, Strato and Startus are supposed to go to school
*But end up wondering into some unknown territory
*Get into a rain, lightning and wind storm fight
*They have to work together to get out of trouble, so their parents do not find out
*They learn they all have secret powers
*The fluffy's have to do extra house work because they missed school
*They end up telling their parents any way
*They learn they should never miss school again unless its an emergency.

End:
So out of all that adventure the Fluffy family realize they should not have missed school and will never do it again because nothing good came out of their "adventure".

BLOG # 4

I jus wanted to inform you guys b4 i proceeded with my blog that i found out in one of my other classes that you SHOULD NOT DRINK HOT LIQUIDS THAT HAVE BEEN SITTING IN YOUR CAR AND HAVE BEEN HIT BY THE SUN. Why u ask? bcuz somthing happens when the sun hits the plastic and gets into the liquid and is cancerious when you drink it. It was said that sheryl crow got her cancer from drinking hot liquids that were kept in the heat. so DO NOT DRINK liquids that you have kept in your car!!!!!!!!! u will get cancer =[

*Ok so 2day in class we as a whole(class) shared our memories our "BAGS". EVERY BODIES were real good and alot of them made me cry. One of the five memories from my bag was my acceptance letter from UNI The University of Northern Iowa. I had applied after getting ready to transfer from a community college to a four year university and one of my friends had told me to apply to this college that was SUPER free if you were chosen for the Bridge Scholarship. This didnt sound right so i wanted to talk to a councelor. So i went to speak with Charley the man n charge of it all. He told me it was free for 2 years as log as i completed my Associates, no matter what degree i was looking at getting so i applied got chosen to GO UP TO IOWA and view the campus for free so i was like how much is the ticket? Nope no cost UNI payed for it all our place to stay our food everyday we were there. The scholarship included free tuition and board. It was AWESOME we stayed a week but the down fall was it was during mid terms so we had to do our work ahead of time. It was sooooo worth it though because when we went the weather was nice it wasnt snowing =[ but it was cold and the campus was HUGE. Every where you went on the campus you saw students with "laker" colors which for me was sweeter! ima laker fan! About 15 students got picked and we had to go through another picking process, to see which students would benefit being placed at UNI i was chosen but i had to turn it down because of family reasons but it was a nice school i would recommend it to anybody who wanted to leave the state and wants a free degree meaning free for 2 years.
i was blessed to even have gotten picked and i was really excited! that was one of my memories!

Dr.Harris brought to our attention that there are mant different types of PERSONAL WRITING such as txt msg's, blog,emails,lists and many more...but do not feel like writing so im not ;]
LOL ne way i do txt msg alot, email often and make TO DO list on a daily! im VERY particular when it comes to my to do list's i put them in most important from top to bottom! and i cross out or do check marks when ive accomplished the tasks. I make to do list for EVERYTHING and then throw them thangs away when im finished..but wut makes these so perfect for me..note i said for ME, is that there on post it's so i can stick em' ne where., books, mirror, door, car..u name it my sticky notes has become bestfriends with it! Also 2day in class we made ABOUT ME dolls and one of mine i would like to share w/u guys is this: Its my poem and in my poem boy is spelled boii...jus bcuz! =]

This Boii

So there is this boii and my dad didnt approve of him

It was because of this boii's skin color

I told my dad i was dating this boii

My dad didnt speak to me for a while, because he said, "you are supposed to stick to your race. Thats how i grew up".

So i thought of the saying U CANT TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS

With this being the way my dad wanted to act i did as i pleased

Because this boii makes my heart go pitter patter, so i am going through some rough patches w/ my dad beause this boii is WORTH IT!

My dad finally decides to meet this boii, or more so my mom making him. Ne way he gets to know this boii and likes him

This boii changed my dad's perspective of stereotypes and this boii and i have been going out for 6mnths going on forever!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this boii alot, with all my little heart because he treats me like a QUEEN, hes caring, loving, kind, gentle, understanding, thinks im beautiful when i look my worst and when my breath is kickin, hes tall, dark, handsome, and a mama's boii, hes my BOYFRIEND!!!!

*All you have to have is faith the size of a mustard seed. With this you can accomplish anything!

Blizzog #3 w/story attached

So lecture that we had b4 our class was canceled, we talked about WRITING! How it's a process and this was familiar to me but it did not really click. But then Dr. Harris was telling us how now a days people SKIP this step or steps and just do all of their revising/editing on the computer. Where as b4 we use to get out paper,pencil and do like three rough drafts before turning in. And this is not saying that the papers have got bad but doing EVERYTHING on the cmptr just makes it harder for the person writing because 9 times out of 10 every body does their papers last minute. So doing this you are just adding more stress to your self when really you do not need the aded stress of editing along side skool, and work. So the first step we talked about in class was how you should start off PRE-WRITING. Which is you organizing your thoughts and using semantic maps, just so you can get a feel on how your paper is going to flow. 2nd was Drafting which is the sloppy copy, you just putting thoughts on paper. 3rd step is Revising this is where you change,add,or delete sentences. On this part your paper will be better if you get two-three opinions also its time to focus on word choice in this section. Such as really look at the words you use because you do not want to use the same words through out your paper. Editing is the 4th step which consist of spelling , capitilizing, punctuation. Last and final step PUBLISH!
*THIS IS MY STORY:
If I won a trip to Outer Space I would be the happiest girl in the world. I have always been fascinated by the planets and zero gravity and actually being able to see with my own eyeshow big our planets really are.
First thing I would do after i win the prize to vo into outer space would be to put that specail white, fluffy suite on my fluffy body.Pounce out of the shuttle while looking and feeling like the Michelin man. Now i know from prior research that i am NOT allowed to take my mask off because there is not enough Oxygen to breath w/out my special suite. After putting the suite on i imediatly get strapped in tight. I can hear the countdown 5...4...3....2....1. Houston we have lift off! I can not see a thing from my little square thing they call a "window". I fall asleep, but i wake my happy self up and see earth. It looks soooo small. i catch myself doing the thumb gesture that Tom Hanks did in th emovie Apollo 13. I am so happy to have won a trip to outer space and i fall asleep again. Traveling takes alot out of ya! =]
I'm woken up by two men unstrapping me from my seat and pushing me out from the space shuttle. Wow what nice people they are! I am not going to let those meanies ruin my trip, nope i am gonna go and try to make new friends. The other dayon PBS (which is a wonderful learning station). Astronomers found that life forms from ice that they found on Mars. I'm not to sure what these life forms look like but my mission is to make new freinds because it is really lonely up here and kinda dark. I am looking at my surroundings and it's red/orangish so to my prediction I'm on Mars. I started walking around this weird planet and i saw a weird object. Usually I would run but i was curious. The object started squirming toward me, It seemed to be a type of worm w/three heads. I found out the "worms" name was Bobby but they like to b called Bob.
I suggested we travel aroudn to the other planets. Bob said they had just the thing (because do not forget, Bob spoke english) they brought our transportation out and we jumped in. I was actually seeing our Solar System and not getting close to the sun or the black hole because I needed to go back and the shuttle radioed me and said they were coming ot get me and take me back to earth in 10 minutes. So i asked my friends if they could drop me off where i first meet them because i had to go back to get picked up and go back to EARTH. So i sadi my good byes and said thnx for everything.
